Morris Tolbert Riley was a tinner in his early career. He was born in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania in 1871, married Mae Shaaffer in 1903, and appeared in the census of 1910 in Pittsburgh. By 1920 he had moved to Milton and was living at 17 Elm Street, and was the proprietor of the business in the picture at 17 Centre Street. In 1925 he bought the residence and business interests of Charles L. Hause at 117-119 Elm Street after Hause died, and was working in 1930 as a merchant of plumbing, stoves and tinware. He died in Milton in 1937 at the age of 65.
