This building is on the west side of S. Front Street. The John Y. Buoy upper block was to the right, and the Riverside Hotel, later the W. H. Harris Restaurant, to the left. Jacob Gauger, a merchant tailor, was born in 1831 and died in 1917. He lived at 89 Broadway, across from the railroad stations. The house is still there. The map of 1884 shows a clothing store on the main floor, with a clothing factory on the second floor rear. In the basement were a restaurant and billiards hall.
