    • KEPLER & EICHHOLTZ - Stoves and Tinware, South Front St.

This business was founded at its present location by Mr. F. P. Kepler, in 1873. He was burned out by the fire of May, 1880, but, undaunted by this misfortune, he had a temporary building erected, and in a very short time, was again doing business. He took immediate steps to have a new building erected, which was finished in the autumn of the same year, and is an imposing brick structure, two stories high, and covers an area 19 x 150 feet. He at once removed to his new huilding and associated with him as joint partner, Mr. Geo. Eichholtz. The first floor is used as a sales-room and contains a large stock of Heaters, Furnaces, Ranges, Stoves, Hollow-ware, and all kinds of Tinware, the latter being manufactured in their shop, which is located on the second floor, and is equipped with all the modern tools and machinery. They also execute orders for Roofing, Spouting, and make a specialty of that branch of their business. The stock is valued at $4,000, and their annual business, both wholesale and retail, runs from $8,000 to $10,000. Mr. Kepler was born in this place May 14, 1852. Mr. Eichholtz is a native of Lancaster, was born in 1844 and located in this town in 1870. This house is the leading one of its kind in this town, and through the energy of the proprietors it is destined to greater achievements.
